I finally finished a watercolor painting that’s been hanging around in revision for a couple of years. It started as a failed watercolor exercise of a picture of a house that I knocked back with a textured layer of gesso/acrylic medium/water mix. Then layered whimsical shapes on top that completely transformed it from a conventional watercolor into the slightly surreal. Also added watercolor crayon and modeling paste shapes too, so it’s now mixed watermedia.
I had it critiqued a couple of times, and this time found that cropping was the best solution. My working title was Memory of Place but changed that to “House Dreams”.
